The tallest man is Robert Pershing Wadlow. He was born at Alton, Illinois, USA, on February 22, 1918, and when he was last measured on June 27, 1940, was found to be 2.72 m (8 ft 11.1 in) tall. Wadlow died at 1:30 a.m. on July 15, 1940, in a hotel in Manistee, Michigan, as a result of a septic blister on his right ankle caused by a brace, which had been poorly fitted only a week earlier. Wadlow's greatest recorded weight was 222.71 kg (35 st 1 lb) on his 21st birthday and his shoe size was 37AA (47 cm, 18½ in long).

CEL MAI INALT MUNTE DIN LUME

Mauna Kea (Muntele Alb) de pe insula Hawaii(SUA) este cel mai inalt munte din lume. Baza sa incepe de pe fundul oceanului Pacific si se ridica pana la un varf de 10.205 m. Pana la altitudinea de 6.000m, muntele se afla sub apa, iar restul de 4.205m se gaseste deasupra nivelului oceanului. In total, de la baza la varf, este cu 1.357 m mai mare decat Everestul.

CEL MAI MARE LAC SUBGLACIAR

Lacul Vostok din Antartica a fost descoperit in anul 1994 in urma analizarii imaginilor radar. Aflat la 4 km sub calota antarctica estica, este cel mai vechi si mai pur lac de pe Pamant, fiind complet izolat de restul planetei de minim 500.000ani. Are suprafata de aproximativ 14.000 km patrati si o adancime de peste 100m.

Satelitul cel mai mare din sistemul solar este Ganimede, unul dintre cei 4 sateliti mari ai lui Jupiter. El este de 2.017 ori mai greu decat Luna si are diametrul de 5.267km.
